F&ck Mitch McConnell

Yeah, the title of this post is not nice. I admit it. And I don’t apologize for it. Fuck him.

Over 1 year ago, Scalia Died. The seat is still open as of today.

Senator Shit-For-Brains basically said (and I shall note, within hours of Scalia’s death) that the Senate would not even hold hearings for an Obama pic for SCOTUS. Why? Because an election was coming (in NINE fucking months) and the people should decide who gets to choose the next justice.

Newsflash. Obama won re-election in 2012 for a 4-year term. The people ELECTED him. He should have been given the chance to fill that empty seat. End of discussion. I am right. Senator McConnell the King Asshole is wrong.

I firmly believe he, and the others in the Senate who went along, violated their constitutional duties re: advise and consent.

And yes, I would say the same thing if it had been Democrats pulling the same trick.

This is why it’s increasingly disappointing to live in what this country has become.

Look Beyond Your Base

Our new leader won’t see this post. Maybe I’m the only one who will ever see this post. But, it’s here to both calm my mind & as a record, ready for the day when I can say “I told you so”

This past weekend he held what essentially amounted to a campaign rally. Gathering thousands of supporters together & puffing up his ego. It was truly head-scratching to me. One month after inauguration & we’ve got a stump speech already?

So I decided to post my thoughts on why he, and those around him, need to get their shit together & understand that they are actually outnumbered.

There is no mandate. There was no landslide. Adapt or die, as it were. (And by die I mean settle for one term as POTUS, if he makes it through the first term)

I have, so far, seen absolutely no effort to govern for everyone in this country, to bring us a little closer together, to work for all of us. And that, my friends, is horseshit of the highest order.

#1 Trump did win electoral vote, but by under 80,000 votes. That’s it. Easily enough votes to have been affected by fake news stories targeting HRC and Russian involvement.

#2 He lost popular vote by around 2.8 mil

#3 Republicans lost seats in the house & senate while maintaining control of both

#4 If they lose 3 seats in senate, they lose control

#5 If they lose 24 or so seats in house, they lose control

#6 There is no mandate based on the above points

#7 Trump’s slim victory can mostly be attributed to lack of engagement on Dems side & their assumption that the HRC victory was in the bag, although the continuous flow of news regarding the Russians’ involvement may change my mind on that statement.

#8 Trump’s actions so far are doing two things….comforting the base (minority of voters) & energizing those who voted for HRC and mobilizing those who didn’t vote because they incorrectly expected an HRC win.

I am an Independent. I wanted to make these points because I don’t feel anyone right now is being objective & truly assessing what’s going on in our country. He did win, he is the President. But, if he wants another term, if he wants to maintain control of Congress, this can’t continue the way it is now. The large protests easily prove that the 77K or so votes that gave him the electoral college can be wiped out pretty handily. The name-calling, the disregard for the 73 million voters who chose someone OTHER than Trump, will cost them in the end. And yes, I know the Dems aren’t doing a great job right now either, but the administration is underestimating the people out there & not clearly looking at the numbers. All out of his fear of being inadequate and/or illegitimate.

Sadly, due to the electoral college (which is outdated & should be abolished, more to come on that in another post) he is legitimate, for now, but I’m sure as hell certain he is inadequate in every. possible. way.

Keeping Calm & Carrying On Ain’t So Easy

Um, I hate lying and that’s the truth. It’s been increasingly frustrating for me since the November Election, especially when I see such blatant lies (they ain’t falsehoods peeps, they’re LIES) plastered all over God’s Creation.

Ha-ha just realized this post has the potential to be never-ending. I’ve got such a jumble of unreleased frustrations about this that I can’t really organize them properly. Should I tackle them as they come in or should I go back over the last few months & create an ongoing list? I want this information to be readily available so I can wield it when needed. Hmmm.

I’ll need to think about this for a bit. I don’t anticipate many people will see this blog but in case someone finds it I would like it be somewhat coherent.

As an example, I’ll use an ongoing lie that came up just today during HIS Press Conference. And FYI, I will never use his name here. I have enough respect for the office of POTUS to recognize that he disrespects it each time he walks into The Oval Office. I digress.

Anyway, the ongoing lie. Today he says something along the lines of “My Electoral College victory was the largest since President Reagan!” and he continued to blither blather on incoherently about it. A reporter from NBC, Peter Alexander, called HIM out for it. Seems his statement wasn’t true. Bush 41, Clinton x 2 elections, Obama x 2 elections, all had larger Electoral College victories than our current POTUS. In fact, Bush 41 won something like 426 electoral votes, about 120 MORE than our current POTUS.

Yet he stands up there on National Television & lies. Then gets called out for it. His reply? “Well, that’s what I was told” or “That’s the information I was given” or something along those lines. Guess what POTUS? You’re POTUS! The buck stops with you. End of discussion.

I believe the lies are a calculated strategy for a very simple, logical reason. He, along with his minions, knows that MOST of his base (discussion about his base to come later) eats this shit up like candy. They believe everything he says. Doesn’t matter if evidence is produced proving the lies. That evidence must be fake news, right??!! (Soon I’ll rant about Fake News).

Another rant coming soon is my thoughts on his victory, his assertions that it was a landslide, that he has a mandate, etc. Because guess what folks? He doesn’t have a mandate. It wasn’t a landslide. More lies.

This is longer than I planned so I’ll wrap up for now. I do my best to post accurate facts. If I post something that ends up being wrong and I find out about it I will correct it. As far as sourcing goes, I’m too tired for that right now. Use Google. No, wait, don’t. Not until you read my rant about “fake news”.

Also, something else that I’ll tell you and will continue to tell you going forward. I’m not a diehard Democrat/flaming liberal. I’m not a diehard Republican/far right wingnut. I’m not Libertarian or Green Party. I’m truly Independent. My complaints can apply to both parties. My votes are never straight Democrat or Republican, I’ll rant about that another day. Right now, because he is POTUS, his lies will be my targets. If it were HRC as POTUS & this was happening, I’d call her out for it also.
